Anti-Self Defense Legislation Update

It’s been said many times, but elections have consequences, and the U.S. Congress is now considering even more anti-gun legislation that would impede law-abiding citizens under the guise of preventing crime.

These bills do nothing of the sort. 

H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446 have passed the House of Representatives and have been transmitted to the U.S. Senate, where majority leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) indicated both bills would go before the Senate despite objection by Republicans.

H.R. 8 makes it illegal for citizens to trade, transfer, or sell your privately owned firearms without getting a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) involved in the transaction. In addition to infringing on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, this creates a federal registry for all private firearm purchases and transfers. And where there is a registry, there is a mechanism for forced confiscation.

H.R. 1446 increases the current waiting period from 3 days to 10 days if the FFL doesn’t receive an approve/deny determination from the FBI NICS background check. If no determination is made after 10 days, “the prospective purchaser may submit a petition for a final firearms eligibility determination” to the FBI. If another 10 days elapse without an answer, then the firearm may be delivered. 

These pieces of legislation will do nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining or misusing firearms, and will only hamper and affect law-abiding citizens.

Our nation was founded on the unalienable rights, endowed upon us by our Creator, of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. As makers of one of the Tools of Liberty...body armor...we oppose these laws and all the others under consideration by Congress. The next four years are going to be filled with anti-freedom legislation. It’s up to all of us to fight to maintain our liberties.

We urge you to contact your U.S. Senator and demand they oppose these and any other bills that infringe on the Right to Keep and Bear arms or require government intrusion into private commercial transactions.
