No King But Christ

The first Americans had a strong understanding of the limitations of government. They knew what tyranny meant, and they fought for independence from tyranny. Early on, they simply ignored laws that they knew were unjust. But when Britain started demanding compliance, America demanded they stand down.

The first Americans knew that authority does not come from the end of a gun; authority comes from God. He grants limited authority to the government if a process is followed by the people to elect representatives among themselves. Guns are used to keep claims of authority in check. To encourage reflection on this fact, our theme this month is No King But Christ. In a republic, Christ alone bears complete authority.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.’”

Matthew 28:18

No mere man ought to pursue for himself the absolute authority of noble blood. Instead, governments are called to respect and protect the freedom of individuals and institutions they watch over. With that said, our mission is to make sure our republic stays free and grows to be freer. We aim to give the Free Men of that republic the things necessary Armed and Armored. Guns and armor are Tools of Liberty first and foremost. They are for resisting tyrants, which history has proven is the most dangerous type of criminal. 

If the link between Tools of Liberty and resisting tyranny didn’t exist, we’d rightfully be accused of using scare tactics to promote body armor. But this is no scare tactic: This is a real concern with a real solution. America is not a magic land that’s immune to tyranny reaching our shores. Rather, America, like all countries, is ruled by fallen men that must be carefully watched to see if the desire to usurp authority and become God is being exercised.

At the moment, saying “no” to tyranny and acting against it is not necessarily violent in America. Oftentimes, petty dictators test their authority with commands but don’t have the backing to follow up on their threats. That’s good. But to keep it that way, Tools of Liberty are paramount.

We’ve mentioned in the past that our goal is to equip at least 3% of American Free Men with body armor. And the more, the better: When the general populace is armed, the conflict between the government and the populace becomes much more intimidating to tyrants. It keeps them in line.

To keep petty control freaks afraid of enforcing their rules, arms and armor are vital.

Also, for the times when a depraved career criminal is after your property or life, self-defense gear is necessary. Crime is rising; your readiness should be improving. Own a firearm, train with your firearm, and own armor.

And, in the worst-case scenario, for the times when we look around and we see that there’s a need for independence once again, an essential part of your kit remains- you guessed it- Tools of Liberty.
