The Ballistic Helmet is tested for Level IIIA protection, the full details of which can be found on the specifications tab. In short, it is rated to stop powerful handgun rounds such as .44 Magnum. Perhaps more relevant to most operations, this means the helmet will be effective against blast debris and high-velocity blunt impacts. It is also a very light helmet at only 1.9 lbs in its biggest size.
The helmet also comes with hardware so as to accommodate NODs. Blindness makes you a liability. A flashlight gives off your position. Night Vision keeps you prepared. Both at night and in dark buildings. Night Vision is a Tool of Liberty.
The "White Phosphor" Night Vision monocular illuminates in a light blue hue. In comparison to the bright green of older phosphor designs, this gives a more natural appearance & greater perception of shadows. The Level 1 rating means the NV has minimal spots and blemishes.
A monocular (as opposed to a binocular) allows one eye to remain adjusted to the darkness while one looks through the illuminant. It is also less expensive to produce in large quantities, allowing us to equip more Free Men.
