Stop Bleeding Without a Tourniquet

MK1 AR-15 magazines securely placed in a tactical chest rig pouch with a black Multicam design.

Bleeding control takes three approaches to stopping a hemorrhage:

  • Direct pressure
  • Packing the wound
  • Using a tourniquet

But what if the injury calls for a tourniquet and you don’t have one?

Forget your belt, it doesn’t work.

Instead, go back to direct pressure, but on the limb’s artery, not the injury itself.

In this video, Glen Stilson of Independence Training shows how to stop bleeding when you don’t have a tourniquet.
