This kit is designed for a flexible, subversive fighting force. Part of that flexibility is the scalability between the Chest Rig and the Plate Carrier/Armor set.
A full-sized carrier like the Testudo is ideal for most missions at hand, but other times, special mission requirements force you to have a carrier like the Invictus Gen 1 plate carrier from Armored Republic that is not only tough as nails but also a nimble and low-profile for vehicle-based and CQB operations. The Invictus Gen 1 has been jump-tested by US Special Operations personnel, where it demonstrated its ability to provide high mobility without sacrificing protection and comfort for the wearer. It accepts all 10? x 12? plates and is laser-cut from laminated Nylon. The Hypalon? shoulder straps and pull tabs, meanwhile, are low profile and secure. Cut from the same laminated Nylon, the cummerbund gives you a customized fit and can also accommodate our padded side plate pouches. Finally, both the plate carrier and cummerbund feature generous PALS webbing for all MOLLE-compatible pouches and accessories – giving you extra space to let you keep extra magazines, a medical kit, or a general access pouch close at hand.
The JN I (John 1) is a modular chest rig. Its MOLLE front and wings carry any pouch combo, an oyster for the user’s wildest imaginations.
The Chest Rig by Armored Republic is designed to be usable in two different ways: Independent from an armor carrier or in addition to one.
With the included H harness, the Chest Rig comes ready to use as its own setup – a platform for carrying front-line gear in front of you, similar to the Battle Belt, a likely compliment to the Chest Rig. But the Chest Rig also already includes what’s needed to mount to most carriers: The featured swift clips attach to your carrier and function as a boost to your customizability. Instead of switching each individual magazine, medical kit, or other tools, use a setup already put on your Chest Rig.
Unlike most rigs on the market, Armored Republic’s design also incorporates 3 rows of MOLLE webbing on the external so you can mount additional pouches for customization. One benefit of this is the included MOLLE extension wings that accommodate additional pouch mounting. Wings allow the mounting of pouches to the left and right of the Chest Rig and are removable when not in use. Another feature is the removable hook cover on the back of the Chest Rig. This Velcro backside cover is used to prevent snagging on t-shirts, and when removed, allows securement to a carrier without a cummerbund flap.
Essential protection ought to be affordable and reliable, which is why Armored Republic is proud to offer one of the most cost-effective plates on the market with our AR500 Armor® Heritage Plate: The plate material is a steel alloy blend, has our patented Advanced Shooters Cut shape, and is covered with an exclusive FragLock™ Base Coat (build-up coating is available).This steel plate lasts a lot longer than polyethylene or ceramic alternatives because of the FragLock™ coating’s 20-year maintenance-free shelf life. While our base coat seals the armor from perspiration, our build-up coating prevents fragmentation injury. Our AR500 Armor® Heritage armor plate, unlike ceramic or polyethylene alternatives, is capable of protecting against several direct hits while still being less bulky than competing materials. It also has been independently tested in accordance with NIJ 0101.06 threat levels through Oregon Ballistics (OBL), and H.P. White Laboratories. This means that its level 3 body armor protection is rated to stop 7.62×51 M80 NATO Ball (.308 Winchester) at a velocity of up to 2,750 FPS, and special threat tested to stop 5.56mm M855/SS109 (Green Tip) at a velocity of 2,750 FPS.
