The Testudo is the carrier of choice for a massive coalition of Free Men. The Gen 3 takes a good product and makes it great with the Quick-Detach System.
A cummerbund is great for its precise adjustability; pull it tight to fit you exactly. The downside of a cummerbund is how it takes a bit longer to take off. The QDS fixes that. Pull a cord away from you and the carrier will open on that side for quick removal.
The Testudo Gen 3 is made mostly of 500D Nylon, with bar tacks reinforcing all stress points and PALS webbing covering the outside. MOLLE-compatible webbing for pouches, holsters, and accessories.
The padding also prevents chafing, making for an armor setup that’s easy to wear for long periods of time. The adjustable shoulder straps, made of nylon, also help you fit the carrier; the low offset makes the rear plate pocket ride at the proper height.
The Medium Size Testudo Gen 3 is suited for 10×12” plates, whereas the Large is suited for 11×14” plates. Most users will find the 10×12” size most manageable and sufficient to protect the vitals. We recommend the larger size for users 6’4” tall and above.
The A1 plates provide Level III+ protection. They are rated to defeat 7.62×39/7.62×51/5.56 M193s, 5.56 M855 rounds, and .223/.308 WIN rounds. Also, the custom steel alloy blend protects against several hits without shattering or breaking and provides multi-hit edge-to-edge coverage. The A1 also has a 20-year shelf life. In this kit, you get front and back plates in the 10×12” size & side plates in the 6×6” size. There is also an upgrade option for 11×14” plates. These are recommended for users 6’2” and taller with big torsos.
The Base Coat comes standard for fragmentation mitigation on the armor plates. It deflects fragmentation outward. The Build-Up Coat captures the fragmentation as opposed to deflecting it.
The Trauma Pads decrease blunt force impact from the bullet after the plate stops the round. They are made of a non-newtonian foam that resists compression.
The Multi-Caliber Rifle Magazine Pouch holds magazines such as 5.56×45 (.223) and 7.62×39 AK. Adjustable & removable retention straps + elastic sides maximize usefulness. In this kit, you get three pouches, each capable of holding one or two magazines.
