Body Armor Bans

The states originally considering body armor bans were California and, shortly after, Illinois. Here are the most recent updates:
California, March 2023: As of March 2023, California's Appropriations Committee appears to have taken the body armor bill AB92 and cut out the civilian-wide prohibitions. A victory for liberty lovers, the bill is now a mere redundancy that prohibits felons from owning body armor, which is already a federal law. Hopefully it is still struck down in totality or at least is not further expanded once more.
Illinois, March 2023: As of February 2023, Illinois House legislators are considering a body armor and helmet ban for all civilians not excepted via 1. Previous ownership or 2. Special occupation. The name of the bill is HB3238. It is current in their Rules Committee which will determine how it is dealt with on the floor.
