What is the status of the Militia helmet?

First, the MIlitia helmet is still happening, it’s just happening more slowly than we expected. We have always taken the quality of our products seriously, and the Militia is no exception.

What happened?

Last year, we received some key components used in the assembly of the Militia that did not meet our standards. Rather than ship out a product that we weren't proud of, we decided to iron out the supply chain problems. COVID-19 has made that process much more difficult than anticipated. 

The Militia has NOT been cancelled. We simply took the product down to avoid selling a product that we could not provide an accurate lead time on. 

Another challenge we ran into was sizing. Although it was originally designed to accommodate S-XL heads through pads of varying thicknesses, the initial production run came out smaller than anticipated, making it suitable only for small, medium, and large sizes. 

Since retooling machinery to form ballistic steel into a helmet is no small task, it is taking time to get everything set up for a second run of larger shells, but we are doing so as quickly as possible.

So, what sizes will the militia fit?

Based on testing with the various pad configurations, we’ve determined the Militia in its current configuration will fit up to 22-½” circumference. In military hat sizes, this appears to translate into a medium, or just under size 7-¼. In ‘standard’ hat sizing, this falls along the border of M/L sizing. 

What are the next steps?

We are working to resolve the supply challenges as quickly as possible so that we can get them into the hands of our current customers. Once that has been accomplished, we will put them back on the website, with zero lead time to move the remainder of our first production run.
