When people talk about “bulletproof vests” they are generally referring to the body armor law enforcement wears as part of their daily uniform.
However, what law enforcement patrol officers actually wear is only a portion of what would be considered “body armor.” Police officer body armor is tailored to their specific body size, shape, and personal needs. This results in an armor system that can cost upwards of $800 depending on the armor’s threat rating, which is NIJ Level II or IIIA.
At AR500 Armor, we offer a set of standard sizes of soft armor panels and hard armor plates, as well as adjustable sizing armor carrier systems to allow you to obtain the same or better level of protection than what law enforcement wears, but at a fraction of the price.
It should be noted that “bulletproof vest” is a misnomer as nothing is really “bulletproof.” This is why it is best to find armor that protects against the threats you anticipate you will most likely face. Level II and IIIA will protect against handgun rounds while Level III and IV will protect against rifle rounds.
