Veritas Plate Carrier

When selecting body armor, there are as many different types of carriers as there are options for the armor itself.

There are full-featured rigs like the AR500 Armor Testudo Gen 2.0, with it’s cummerbund and larger plate pockets to accommodate both 10”x12” and 11”x14” plates, to an ultra-minimalist carrier like our AR Freeman carrier.

Occupying the middle of these extremes is the Veritas, which is a solid choice for both the new armor owner or seasoned professional alike.

Built to last

The Veritas is built to last, featuring 500 Denier Cordura, heavy duty webbing and Velcro, and is bar-tacked at critical stress points. The plate pockets and included shoulder pads are lined with 3D mesh for comfort.

The Veritas is designed to accommodate 10”x12” plates, so it’s got a slightly smaller footprint than the Veritas. Nevertheless, it has the same six channel wide by three rows tall main area of PALS webbing as the Testudo and is able to accommodate our triple rifle magazine pouch with ease. Or mix-and-match with a double rifle and double pistol magazine pouch, or any combination of MOLLE-compatible gear that fits within that area.

The Veritas also has two admin pockets, one at the top of the carrier and a “kangaroo pouch” in the lower portion of the plate pocket. The upper part of the carrier has four channels by two rows of Velcro-covered PALS webbing on both the front and rear of the carrier, useful for i.d. patches or MOLLE-compatible pouches. Front and back of the Veritas also have SWIFT Clip compatible attachment points.

Versatile plate carrier that won’t break the bank

One of the Veritas’ strengths is its versatility. The 2” side-webbing connecting the front and rear plate pockets can be removed and replaced with the optional cummerbund that was specially designed to work with the Veritas.

The cummerbund kit consists of the actual cummerbund, made of nylon laminate and Velcro, and the cummerbund flap, which attaches via the kangaroo pocket on the front of the carrier. Installation takes only a few minutes.

The only downside of the cummerbund is that it makes using the kangaroo mag pouch difficult, since the tabs used to attach the flap into the kangaroo pocket make inserting and removing magazines very tight. Nevertheless, the added PALS/MOLLE real estate the cummerbund offers may offset this...just depends on your needs.

In addition to the added MOLLE area, the inside of the cummerbund is lined with loop Velcro to attach pouches such as our Padded Side Plate Pouch for use with our soft or hard side armor..

So if you’re looking for a simple yet rugged plate carrier that provides enough real-estate to carry the essentials or the ability to create a full-size rig capable of carrying all your mission-critical gear, take a close look at the AR500 Armor Veritas.
