Customer Reviews

it is as described on the website Review by Wilson Verified Purchase
I made the assumption that the holster would work with a light mounted .45. It does not. No worries, fall back to plan B.
The holster works for a large frame .40 S&W and .45 1911 or .45XDM.
The retention strap is not ideal, when open to draw the weapon the back side falls straight down making it impossible to re-snap the strap with one hand and without looking down.
It would have been nice if it could hold a light mounted pistol, but the description did not say it would.

This holster is absolutely useless Review by Five Eleven
It's of decent material and stitched adequately, but the design is terrible. Forget about other people complaining about the thumb break - I didn't even get that far - I can't even get it adjusted to cover the trigger guard on a CZ P10C or HK45c. The Velcro strap is sewn on and just isn't long enough to make contact with the outer shell to secure it.

Disappointing. Don't waste your money. (Posted on 1/12/2020)
Would spend money on other gear first. Review by ClassicShooter
Got one in a mystery box, & I cannot figure out when I would use it. It does not fit a majority of my pistols well enough to feel comfortable carrying one in the chamber. Almost each gun I tried the holster in took very little effort to make contact with the trigger. Additionally, and chest setup with one of these holsters makes carrying any AR mags worthless since the holster blocks easy access to the mags. (Posted on 1/9/2020)
Keep working on it Review by Joseph
The holster material was nice and rugged with solid stitching and lots of strong Velcro. It easily accommodated a Sig P220 fully covering the trigger. There are two significant problems, though. When mounted vertically, the MOLLE straps on the holster are attached too low, so the weight of a firearm caused the holster to flop far forward. The deal breaker was the retention strap. After lots of trying, I was never able to release the strap one handed. I do not want a holster I need two hands to operate. (Posted on 1/5/2020)
great holster Review by zoom Verified Purchase
Nice design that fits a variety of handguns. I wanted a holster for my chiappa rhino, which isn't easy to fit, and this works perfectly. I love the adjustibility and the sturdiness and stiffness, even though it's fabric. And contrary to other reviews, I really like the thumb break. Perhaps they've improved it, because it's perfect - easy to break but holds strong. My Only complaint is that the holster is always shown on the website with a patch, so I assumed it came with a patch. It does not. I know it's nit picky, but don't show it with an ar500 patch if it's not included - unless you write a disclaimer. Otherwise, you're inching into false advertising... (Posted on 12/13/2019)
Versatile but... Review by James Verified Purchase
I like the fact that it is easily convertible to the right or left hand. The velcro is super strong and holds it in position very well. The velcro addition to add a patch is very nice as well. The biggest drawback is the thumb break. It usually unsnaps from the holster and falls off. Would have been better to make that part more secure on the holster. (Posted on 7/20/2019)
Average holster Review by Duce
The holster fits my weapons tight enough to hold them in place but loose enough for a quick draw and the stitching and material is good. I gave a 3 star rating because of the weak thumb break. The thumb break is ABSOLUTELY USELESS. If ar500 can fix that problem I would give 5 stars. (Posted on 4/5/2018)
2 Stars Review by LMP
The holster does is not designed to fit with a weapon mounted light. The retention strap that wraps around and under the holster is not long enough for a weapon mounted light and cannot be replaced without cutting free the strap, as it is sewn to the holster on on end. If it were only an inch longer it would be ideal.
Also, as another reviewer has stated, the thumb break strap falls off. On one end it is retained to the holster by velcro and holds strong. However on the other end it is only attached to the holster by a snap, which doesn't retain tightly.
I would return it, but I'd spend half the cost of the holster in shipping fees. (Posted on 4/5/2018)
Great MOLLE holster Review by TLL
I really like the build of this holster and the adjustability. The Velcro is stout and well thought out. The only drawback is the thumb break. The snap that holds the thumb break to the holster doesn't hold strong enough to let the thumb break work. It falls off the holster. I will likely remove the snap and replace it with a chicago screw which will be more solid and let the thumb break work as it should. Otherwise it is a great holster and should work well on a chest rig or battle belt. (Posted on 1/11/2018)
5 stars Review by mark
The Ar 500 holster is pretty universal. Plastic straps go thru the Molle webbing on the chest of the carrier to mount it. Unlilke the other holster they offer, this one will take a Velcro patch. Nice to have the security of mounting the pistol on the chest. The holster mounts high enough in the Molle attachments that it does not impede drawing magazines out of chest/belly mounted magazine pouches. I'm very pleased. (Posted on 1/3/2018)
Better for Bigger Review by Corpsie Verified Purchase
This holster definitely caters to full size pistols (Glock 17, Beretta M9, Steyr L9). Medium (Steyr M9) and compact pistols are difficult to both cover the trigger guard and utilize the back strap. The buttons on the backstrap release very easily, too easily if you have the strap fully snug to the holster.

The rest of the holster and adjustability are great. The material is good, the stitching is good and the hook & loop is good.

The 3 star rating is because, overall, it's about average, bulkier than necessary and that weak snap knocks it down.
